The Artist Behind Fontaines D.C.'s "Romance": Taipei-Born Lulu Lin

Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C. commissioned Taipei-born, New York-based digital artist Lulu Lin (Instagram: @da__h_) to create the visual identity for their 2024 album Romance. The band purchased five individual works from Lin, covering the main album cover and character illustrations for several singles.
Lin's visual language
Lin's work is defined by organic, airbrush-style digital rendering that warps human silhouettes into fluid, metallic forms — a style that sits between figuration and distortion, and one that lines up closely with the emotional tension Romance explores.
The five pieces Fontaines D.C. commissioned from Lin for the album include:
- The main album cover
- Character illustration for the single "Starburster"
- Character illustration for the single "Favourite"
- Character illustration for the single "Here's The Thing"
- A fifth piece (not specifically identified in the announcement)
Taiwan background
Lin was born in Taipei and is currently based in New York. This collaboration with Fontaines D.C. is one example of a Taiwan-born creator gaining visibility in visual production for the international independent music scene. Lin's Instagram account @da__h_ continues to feature her digital art.
