Radiohead's Ed O'Brien Releases Single "Abbeycwmhir" Ahead of October European Tour
Ed O'Brien, guitarist for Radiohead, will officially release the single "Abbeycwmhir" on digital platforms on Thursday, July 9, 2026. The hushed, atmospheric track was previously available only as a limited 7-inch vinyl release in May. Its title, roughly translating to "abbey in the long valley," is named after a village of the same name beside the Nant Clywedog valley in Powys, Wales.
A Companion Release to Blue Morpho
"Abbeycwmhir" is a standalone single release outside O'Brien's latest solo album, Blue Morpho. Released under the name EOB, the album received a four-star review from NME and marks O'Brien's second full-length solo work, following his 2020 debut Earth.
Speaking to NME about the album's creative headspace, O'Brien described coming through a difficult period, and said he's grateful for the experience, calling it "part of life's journey."
European Tour: "An Evening With… Blue Morpho"
O'Brien will tour Europe and the UK with the collective of musicians who recorded Blue Morpho, including musical director Dave Okumu and ESKA. The promoters describe the shows as a "fluid and immersive experience," with each performance naturally evolving into its own shape.

Radiohead's 2027 Touring Plans
O'Brien also revealed in the interview that Radiohead plans to tour one continent per year starting in 2027, with a fixed number of 20 shows each time—no more, no less. The band completed its long-awaited return to live performance last year, its first shows since 2018.
He also told Consequence that frontman Thom Yorke is expected to release a solo album this year, with O'Brien describing Radiohead as the "mothership," around which each member's solo projects orbit as "little satellites."
