Beck Shares "Disappearing Act," New Album Ride Lonesome Out September 18

Beck has released "Disappearing Act," the third single from his upcoming 15th studio album, Ride Lonesome. The record arrives September 18 via Capitol, self-produced by Beck and mixed by longtime Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich. According to NME, the acoustic-guitar-driven track leans airy and spacious, with a lyric describing something "high as the sun" over a hushed, late-afternoon mood.

The Singles So Far

"Disappearing Act" follows the title track "Ride Lonesome" and "In The Night" as the third preview from the album. Beck produced the full record himself, with Godrich handling the mix.

Ride Lonesome is Beck's first new studio album since 2019's Hyperspace, and comes after this year's rarities, outtakes and covers compilation Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime. The new material reportedly leans toward the sound of 2002's Sea Change and the acoustic-centered Morning Phase (2014) — Beck reassembled the touring and recording band from that era, including Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr. and Jason Falkner, reconvening at his regular Hollywood haunt, United Studios B.

In a statement, Beck said that a decade on from recording Morning Phase, the band's playing and chemistry had moved forward — describing the sessions as a return to familiar music and spaces that also uncovered new sonic and emotional textures.
