Weyes Blood Debuts Two New Songs at BBC Proms

Weyes Blood — the project of Natalie Mering — premiered two new songs, "Modern Dreams" and "Good Lovers," at a special orchestral performance at the BBC Proms in London earlier this week. Two new songs after a four-year gap

Mering's last solo album, And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow, came out nearly four years ago. She hasn't been idle in the interim — she's kept busy with collaborations and film/TV scoring work.

A few months ago, Mering sang backing vocals for Olivia Rodrigo on Saturday Night Live. That kind of behind-the-scenes work has largely defined her activity between solo records.

Weyes Blood is known for orchestral arrangements and a 1970s California-pop sound. And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow and its predecessor Titanic Rising form part of a planned trilogy, and the orchestral format of this Proms set is consistent with her usual arranging style.
