Fontaines D.C. Announce 80,000-Capacity Slane Castle Show for 2027
Dublin band Fontaines D.C. have announced a headline show at Slane Castle in County Meath, Ireland on Saturday, June 26, 2027. The outdoor amphitheatre venue holds around 80,000 people for concerts, and the bill includes special guest Hayley Williams, plus Damien Dempsey and Madra Salach.
The booking makes Fontaines D.C. only the third Irish band to headline Slane Castle's main stage, following Thin Lizzy in 1981 and U2 in 2001. The band teased the announcement themselves, flashing "Slane 2027" on stage screens at the close of their August 30 headline set at Electric Picnic.

Over 45 years, Slane Castle's amphitheatre has hosted The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Queen, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Guns N' Roses, Oasis, Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Eminem and Harry Styles. The 2027 date falls on the Saturday of what would be Glastonbury weekend; Worthy Farm's lineup for that year has not yet been announced.
New album and recent momentum
The Slane show arrives on the back of the band's fifth studio album, Dopamine Chamber, due October 16 via XL Recordings and produced by James Ford — the follow-up to 2024's UK platinum-certified Romance. Frontman Grian Chatten has described the album itself as a dopamine chamber that listeners step into, with the band testing out music that alters mind and mood.
Lead single "Marianne" has been followed by "Six Shot Morning" and "Happy, For You," the latter played live for the first time at Leeds Festival on August 29 after technical and setlist issues forced it and two other songs out of the previous night's Reading headline set — which NME still rated four and a half stars. The Electric Picnic set marked the band's first time closing that festival, and their first Irish show since longtime manager Trevor Dietz, whom the band has called their "sixth member," passed away in June.
