Tortoise Member's New Band Yr Knives Drops "Stretch Bath"

Chicago instrumental group Yr Knives has released a new track, "Stretch Bath," the latest single from their forthcoming debut album Begin Yr Singing. The band draws on veteran players from Chicago's post-rock scene, including Douglas McCombs, bassist for both Tortoise and Eleventh Dream Day. Yr Knives previously previewed Begin Yr Singing with "Fear&Trimbling," which Stereogum described as an exercise in "muscular intellectual noodling" that unexpectedly builds into an emotionally intense orchestral close.

"Stretch Bath" continues the rollout for the same album, marking the latest track shared ahead of the record's full release.

Who's in the band

Douglas McCombs is a central figure in Chicago's post-rock lineage, having long contributed to both Tortoise and Eleventh Dream Day. In Yr Knives, he plays bass. The rest of the lineup is likewise drawn from Chicago's local post-rock circles.
