'Hope' Soundtrack Arrives: All 30 Michael Abels Score Tracks Listed

The soundtrack to Hope, South Korean director Na Hong-jin's first feature since 2016's The Wailing, was released September 9 through Milan Records. It collects 30 score cues by composer Michael Abels, running roughly 80 minutes total. The film premiered in competition at Cannes in May, has already opened in South Korea and the US, and reaches UK cinemas on September 25.

The score and its composer

Abels is best known for his collaborations with Jordan Peele on Get Out, Us, and Nope, along with credits on The Burial, Landscape With Invisible Hand, and the series Star Wars: The Acolyte. The Hope soundtrack is entirely instrumental score — no vocal singles or songs are included, all 30 tracks are Abels' original compositions.

What the film is about

Written and directed by Na Hong-jin, Hope is set in the remote fishing village of Hope Harbor. Police chief Bum-seok and officer Sung-ae respond to reports of a mysterious creature terrorizing the area, while Sung-ki joins a group of local hunters tracking the same beast into the surrounding forest — only to discover they've become the hunted.
