Summer Sonic 2026 Closing Day: L'Arc-en-Ciel Headline Tokyo, Ado Closes Osaka

Sunday, August 16, 2026 marks the shared closing day of Summer Sonic 2026, staged simultaneously in Tokyo and Osaka. Marking its 25th edition, the festival expanded its Tokyo run to three days for the first time this year, with Osaka also running a three-day schedule. At the Tokyo site (Zozo Marine Stadium / Makuhari Messe), the Marine Stage closes with L'Arc-en-Ciel, marking the band's 35th anniversary, at 19:20, while the Mountain Stage is topped by Jamiroquai. In Osaka (Expo '70 Commemorative Park), the AIR stage closes with Ado, bringing the festival to an end.

This marks L'Arc-en-Ciel's first time headlining a Summer Sonic stage. According to the band's official X account, they already headlined the Osaka leg on August 14, meaning this year's schedule effectively opens in Osaka and closes in Tokyo for the band.

On the final day in Osaka, the AIR stage closes with Ado, who headlined Tokyo's main stage just the day before (August 15). Ado's schedule mirrors a city-swap pattern seen elsewhere in this year's three-day run, alongside The Strokes (Tokyo Aug 14 → Osaka Aug 15) and L'Arc-en-Ciel (Osaka Aug 14 → Tokyo Aug 16).

Weather warning ahead of the show

Weather reports ahead of the festival flagged rain risk around the Chiba/Tokyo site linked to a tropical depression (referred to in Japanese as "typhoon egg"), while the Osaka/Toyonaka area was expected to see temperatures approaching 40°C.

LE SSERAFIM's Osaka opening-day set

Looking back, LE SSERAFIM delivered a full hour-long set on the Osaka opening day, August 14. According to allkpop, the setlist included "ANTIFRAGILE," "UNFORGIVEN," and "CRAZY," along with a first-ever live band performance of "IRONY." The group also appeared at the Tokyo leg on August 16, bookending the three-day run.
