Rush Reportedly in Talks for Las Vegas Sphere Residency, Deal Could Close Within Weeks

Canadian progressive rock legends Rush are reportedly negotiating a residency at the Las Vegas venue Sphere. According to the UK's The Sun, citing unnamed sources, the two sides have been in talks "secretly for some time," with a deal potentially finalized within weeks. SiriusXM host Eddie Trunk also said on his radio show that the residency is "a done deal," with a possible run of up to 18 shows. As of publication, neither the band nor the venue has issued an official confirmation.

Background: the "Fifty Something" Tour

The residency talk comes as Rush is in the midst of its "Fifty Something" tour. Geddy Lee (vocals, bass) and Alex Lifeson (guitar), joined by drummer Anika Nilles, kick off the tour's first leg in North America in June 2026, playing a setlist spanning the band's entire career and paying tribute to legendary drummer Neil Peart, who died in 2020.

After the North American leg wraps, the "Fifty Something" tour is expected to move to the UK, Europe, and South America in 2027.

About Sphere and Its Other Resident Acts

Sphere opened in 2023 at a cost of $2.3 billion (roughly £1.7 billion), its exterior covered in more than 1.2 million LED pucks. U2 was the first act to hold a residency there, running from September 2023 to March 2024, followed by completed residencies from Phish, Dead & Company, Eagles, and Backstreet Boys. Metallica has already been confirmed for later this year, with dates extended into 2027 due to demand; there are also unconfirmed reports that Tool is in talks for a residency.
