At the pre-match opening ceremony, Post Malone gave the live debut of his new song "Chrome Heartbreaker," followed by "Wow," and brought out Swae Lee for "Sunflower." He performed wearing a shirt printed with the phrase "I just hope both teams have fun."

"Chrome Heartbreaker" is the new track Post Malone had been teasing over the preceding days, with a laid-back sound. The chorus goes: "I'm breakin' bands up, I'm Yoko Ono / She want that Benz truck, she want that Coco / And now she lookin' up at me like I'ma save her / She don't know that I'm a Chrome heartbreaker." Clips of the live performance quickly spread across social media, and according to NME, this marked the song's first public performance.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino said ahead of the match that the performance was designed to ignite the atmosphere at the intersection of "sport, culture and the eyes of the world."

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin conceived and hosted the tournament's first-ever halftime show, modeled on the NFL Super Bowl format. The lineup included Madonna, Shakira, BTS, and Justin Bieber, with cameo appearances from Brazilian football legends Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, plus The Muppets.
The halftime show sparked plenty of social media chatter, but the other big talking point of the night was BBC pundit and former England star Wayne Rooney bluntly calling the performance "crap" live on air.
