Behind the Film
Jennings previously directed the music videos for Pulp's 'Help The Aged' and 'A Little Soul,' and has made videos for Blur, Radiohead, Beck, R.E.M., Fatboy Slim and Vampire Weekend. He also directed the 2005 sci-fi film 'The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy' and co-wrote the animated films 'Sing' and 'Sing 2.'
The film is produced by Octavia Peissel ('Asteroid City') and edited by Barney Pilling ('The Grand Budapest Hotel'). Jarvis Cocker serves as an executive producer, alongside Stuart Goldstein, Tom Healy, Rosie Taylor, Harper Simon and Mark Sainsbury.
The film features 20 songs spanning hits and deep cuts, interwoven with band member narration, rare behind-the-scenes footage, and previously unseen archival material spanning four decades, set against what the source describes as the band's 'elaborately staged' setlist on their 2025 tour. That tour supports Pulp's first new album in 24 years, 'More.' The film has been compared to Talking Heads' 1984 concert film classic 'Stop Making Sense.'
The key art shows a close-up of Cocker's torso as he performs onstage. The trailer is set to the intro of 'Common People,' featuring 2025 performance footage intercut with backstage clips from the '90s. In the film, Cocker reflects on revisiting old songs: "It's real time travel."
Recent Activity
Since announcing the film, Pulp headlined and closed out Mad Cool 2026 and performed an orchestral special show at London's Royal Festival Hall celebrating Rough Trade's 50th anniversary. The band will play Wythenshawe Park in Manchester on August 28, billed by organizers as their 'only UK headline show' this year, before topping the bill at End Of The Road 2026 next month.
Following the release of 'More,' Pulp contributed the new song 'Begging For Change' to War Child's all-star charity compilation 'Help(2),' and digitally released an EP featuring 'Marrying For Love' and 'Cold Call On The Hotline.'
