Foo Fighters to Open for AC/DC in One-Off St. Louis Show on September 8
Foo Fighters announced via Instagram on August 19 that they will open for AC/DC's "Power Up" tour on Tuesday, September 8 at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri. It's a single-date arrangement — anyone already holding a ticket for that show will get two stadium-level rock acts on one bill. The Pretty Reckless, who were originally set to open AC/DC's summer dates, will step aside for this particular show.

Where this fits in both bands' schedules
AC/DC's North American leg of the "Power Up" tour continues through the summer and wraps on September 29 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Foo Fighters' own tour doesn't resume until September 12, meaning the St. Louis date falls neatly into a gap in their schedule. Foo Fighters' current tour opener is Queens of the Stone Age.
Dave Grohl and 'Let There Be Rock'
According to Far Out Magazine, Dave Grohl used the announcement to revisit the impact of AC/DC's 1980 concert film Let There Be Rock, writing that it was the first time he understood live rock music's "raw, primal power." He described watching the film on the edge of his seat, struggling to grasp how five people could unleash that much intensity on stage with just their instruments.
Grohl also said that after that night, "the bar was set exceptionally high," and that without this film and this band, he would have approached his music career completely differently. He called this show his first time sharing a stage with these musicians since 1980, describing it as a dream come true, and closed with a shout-out to St. Louis.
Given Foo Fighters' current stature, the band could easily headline any stadium on their own — the choice to open this particular show says something about Grohl's regard for AC/DC.
