Michael Monroe Returns to Japan After Two-and-a-Half Years, Tokyo Gets Two Different Setlists

Michael Monroe, longtime frontman of Finnish rock band Hanoi Rocks, has announced JAPAN TOUR 2026 — his first tour of Japan in roughly two and a half years. The Tokyo leg runs two consecutive nights, Tuesday December 1 and Wednesday December 2, 2026, with completely different setlists each night, timed to celebrate his 45th anniversary as a performing artist. The tour was announced September 8 by Japanese promoter Creativeman Productions via its official social channels.

Two Very Different Tokyo Nights

December 1's NIGHT ONE is billed as "A Celebration of HANOI ROCKS," with the promoter describing a setlist spanning the band's full career — a return to where Monroe's music started.

December 2's NIGHT TWO is titled "1987–2026 SOLO YEARS," tracing his solo output from his 1987 debut album Nights Are So Long through to his recent record Outerstellar.

What We Know So Far

What Hasn't Been Announced Yet

As of the announcement, the specific Tokyo venue, on-sale date, and ticket pricing have not been published — only the dates, themes, and promoter. Fans planning to travel for either night should watch the official Creativeman link above for venue and ticketing details as they're released.

Why It Matters

For international fans who track Hanoi Rocks and Monroe's solo catalog, splitting Tokyo into a band-focused night and a solo-career-spanning night gives a rare chance to hear two distinct bodies of work from one artist on back-to-back nights — useful information if you're deciding which night, or whether both, are worth building a trip around.

About Michael Monroe

Monroe fronted Hanoi Rocks, one of the defining Finnish rock bands of the 1980s. He launched his solo career in 1987 with Nights Are So Long; his latest solo album is Outerstellar. The two Tokyo nights on this tour map directly onto those two chapters of his career.
