Hayley Williams Slams ICE on Stage, Draws Response From US Homeland Security

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams shouted "F–k ICE" and "Free Palestine" from the stage during a recent show in Chula Vista, California. The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responded publicly, saying Americans should thank federal law enforcement officers for their service and sacrifice rather than disparage them. According to a Billboard roundup, Williams has since responded again, holding her ground rather than walking the comments back.

What happened at the show

The incident took place during Williams' performance in Chula Vista. On stage, she directed her remarks at both US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the situation in Gaza, delivering the two lines back to back: "F–k ICE" and "Free Palestine."

DHS issued an official response afterward, emphasizing that the work of federal law enforcement officers deserves gratitude and characterizing the on-stage remarks as a disparagement of their sacrifice. A federal department publicly responding to a single musician's concert comments is unusual in the US.

Williams' response

Williams responded again after DHS weighed in. Billboard, in a social media post, described her stance as "isn't backing down," meaning she did not retract or soften her earlier remarks in light of the official response. Her full response was published by Billboard.
