The Avalanches Reveal Full 31-Track Tracklist for New Album 'No Bad Memories'

Australian sampling duo The Avalanches have unveiled the complete tracklist for their fourth studio album, No Bad Memories. The record runs 31 tracks and arrives October 16, with pre-orders already open. According to NME, the album draws inspiration from advertising jingles and computer startup sounds.

Who's on it

The guest list spans rock, electronic and experimental sound art. Vocal features include Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Mike Patton and John Glacier. Other collaborators include Japanese visual and sound artist Ryoji Ikeda (池田亮司), Louisiana producer-songwriter Portraits of Tracy, Yellow Magic Orchestra founding member Haruomi Hosono (細野晴臣), and electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani.

Animal Collective's Panda Bear, along with Barry Can't Swim and Jamie xx, also appear on the record. Actor Haley Joel Osment, who appears in the album's promotional trailer, features on two tracks: 'Superfun! TV Spot' and 'El Dorado TV Spot'.

From 'Since I Left You' to After the Trilogy

The Avalanches' 2000 debut album Since I Left You is regarded as a landmark of sampling music. Member Robbie Chater told NME in 2020: "It sounds like a very young me made it," describing it as naive, unguarded, and unconcerned with being cool or ironic.

Their previous album, We Will Always Love You, received a four-star review from NME, which praised its rich list of guest features, intricately woven music and structural strength of its tracks, calling the journey worthwhile and viewing it as the culmination of the duo's 20-year trilogy. No Bad Memories is their fourth studio album since then.
