Minneapolis Shoegaze Band She's Green Drop New EP "Swallowtail", Produced by DIIV's Longtime Collaborator

Minneapolis shoegaze five-piece She's Green have released their third EP, Swallowtail, a roughly 26-minute record produced by Sonny DiPerri, known for his work with DIIV and Julie. NME published an in-depth feature on the band on July 15, 2026, tracing their rise since the early 2020s.

She's Green formed when vocalist Zofia Smith and guitarist Liam Armstrong became roommates near the University of Minnesota during the pandemic. Bonding over a shared love of Cocteau Twins and Slowdive, the pair eventually expanded into a five-piece with guitarist Raines Lucas, bassist Teddy Nordvold, and drummer Kevin Seebeck.

The band has deliberately built its catalog through EPs, releasing three over three years. Swallowtail is their longest release yet and their first collaboration with DiPerri. The track "Empty House" strips back the band's usual layers of reverb, leaving Smith's vocals accompanied only by acoustic guitar and sparse, delayed percussion — a sound closer to a BBC Session performance. Armstrong told NME the band is still approaching the idea of a debut full-length with caution.

Touring history and recent activity

In January 2025, She's Green were invited by influential Minneapolis radio station The Current to open its 20th anniversary celebration at the legendary venue First Avenue, supporting a solo performance by Pixies frontman Frank Black. Since then, the band has toured with Blondshell, Softcult, Turnover, and Narrow Head, and were invited to headline shows in China, with their monthly Spotify listener count surpassing 500,000.
