There's Now a 'Letterboxd for Clubbing' — Rate Your DJ Sets on Seen Live

A new free app called Seen Live has launched, billed as a kind of "Letterboxd for clubbing." It lets users rate the DJ sets, festivals and live shows they've attended on a five-star scale, building a personal archive of their nights out. Users can log club nights and concerts they've been to, search past and upcoming events, upload photos and videos, and build their own nightlife and live-show timeline. It's the work of Jordan Taylor, founder of nightlife culture platform Tough Luck. The comments were reported by NME, via Mixmag.
What the app does
- Rate performances on a five-star scale, with room to write reviews and upload photos and video
- Search past and upcoming events to build a personal timeline of shows attended
- Social and discovery features: follow friends and other fans, browse trending shows
- Discover new artists, DJs and venues through community reviews
- Currently available only on the Apple App Store, for iPhone and iPad — no Android version yet
- Free to download
Why Taylor built it
Taylor said the idea came from realizing that after a while, he couldn't remember "half the artists and DJs" he'd seen — and that photos and videos from those nights were buried in his camera roll with no context. He said he wanted "a place to look back on it all," a complete record of every show he's been to.
He also said the platform is meant to give users a space to "share their night out" experiences, hoping people can discover new artists through each other's reviews — finding their next favorite DJ from people who were actually there.
From Letterboxd to the music scene
Letterboxd is a film-focused social platform where users log, review and rate movies they've watched, build watchlists and follow other film fans; the platform also launched an in-app movie rental service last year. Charli XCX and Paul McCartney are both known users.
Music streaming is moving toward live events too: Spotify now lets users follow their favorite venues, with a Live Events feed updated daily covering shows at more than 20,000 venues worldwide.
