The Reytons' history with independent success
The band's previous No.1 came in 2023, when What's Rock And Roll? topped the chart as a fully independent release with no label backing. Frontman Jonny Yerrell told NME at the time that the mood in the band changed completely once the midweek chart update showed them provisionally in first place, calling the whole experience "completely unreal."
Yerrell also said the band started out with almost no money and faced plenty of rejection over the years, having to find their own way forward. He said it made them proud to reach No.1 independently, and stressed that The Reytons want to build a community where listeners feel like they're part of it too.
FLO, for their part, are chasing their first-ever chart-topping album with Therapy At The Club. The rest of the Top 10 is rounded out by Michael Jackson's compilation The Essential, Overmono's Pure Devotion, and Olivia Rodrigo's You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love at Nos. 3 through 5.
