DJ Shadow to Reissue Landmark Album Endtroducing for 30th Anniversary, Announces North America/UK Tour
DJ Shadow (Joshua Paul Davis) is reissuing his groundbreaking 1996 debut album Endtroducing for its 30th anniversary. The reissue drops September 18 and is available for preorder now. He's also launching an anniversary tour, kicking off September 24 at The Sound in San Diego, California, and running through late October before a single UK date at London's Barbican on December 18. Why the album still matters
Endtroducing was recorded at DJ Shadow's home studio, The Glue Factory, in San Francisco, and at producer Dan The Automator's studio, blending rock, psychedelic, and jazz samples. It's widely regarded as the first album made entirely from samples and a milestone for instrumental hip-hop, with its lo-fi textures and ambient sound-layering still cited as a reference point in electronic music.
Radiohead have cited it as an influence, and Deftones have long been vocal fans — the two collaborated in 2020 on Black Stallion, a full remix of Deftones' White Pony, something Deftones had told NME they'd long wanted DJ Shadow to do. Earlier this year, DJ Shadow released the box set The Mo'Wax Singles 1993-1997, compiling his singles from his Mo'Wax label years along with previously unreleased remixes and edits. His most recent studio album is 2024's Action Adventure.
