Queens Of The Stone Age Announce New Album 'Perfecth,' Out October 30
Queens Of The Stone Age have announced their ninth studio album, Perfecth, due October 30 via Matador Records — the follow-up to 2023's In Times New Roman…. The band had teased the album with a bloody trailer that hinted at a possible September release before the October 30 date was confirmed. Alongside the announcement comes a new single, "Insignificant Other," the second preview track after "Easy Street." According to NME, the album will feature nine tracks.
The Album and New Single
"Insignificant Other" carries the same loose, lazy groove as "Make It Wit Chu." Frontman Josh Homme has described it as "a song about distance" — about someone who was once your whole world suddenly vanishing, and the disorientation of living with that. The video, directed by Chapman Baehler, stars viral internet dog Big Chongus along with Ruby Homme, Max Homme, Pumpkin Van Leeuwen, Isabella Puppolini (Izzy) Van Leeuwen and Reesa Shuman.
The album title comes from Homme's belief that the word "perfect" is never honest and doesn't really exist, so he coined "perfecth" instead. "Nothing is perfect, but everything looks pretty perfecth," he said. The record's core concept draws on the Japanese art of Kintsugi — repairing broken pottery with gold, so that the mended object becomes more beautiful for having been broken — mirroring the band's own hard-won clarity at this stage. The nine songs are described as being about love in its many forms, encompassing family, friends, and others both significant and insignificant.
Perfecth was co-produced by Homme and bassist Michael 'Mikey Shoes' Shuman, with recording sessions spanning New Orleans to Los Angeles. "Every song sounds like it comes from a different world," Homme said. The album also includes a re-recorded version of "Sunday," originally from Homme and Iggy Pop's 2016 collaborative album Post Pop Depression, which also featured Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders and QOTSA's Dean Fertita.

From the Paris Catacombs to the Royal Albert Hall
The album's creation was also shaped by the band's stripped-down 2024 concert in the Paris Catacombs, which was turned into a concert film and live album, Alive In The Catacombs. NME gave the release four stars, calling it a "moving and meditative" concert documentary.
The band subsequently took a string-accompanied lineup on a small tour across the UK, Europe and North America. The UK leg closed in October at London's Royal Albert Hall, where they performed new songs and brought out Matt Berry as a guest. Back in 2024, Homme had promised to "roll up his sleeves" and move faster this time, to avoid repeating the six-year gap between 2017's Villains and In Times New Roman….
