Nine Inch Nails Drop 30th Anniversary Quake Merch, Trent Reznor Appears at QuakeCon
Nine Inch Nails marked the 30th anniversary of Quake with a limited merchandise line launched at the annual gaming convention QuakeCon on Wednesday, August 6, 2026. Frontman Trent Reznor recorded a video message played at the event, revisiting how he came to score the id Software dark-fantasy first-person shooter.

Reznor on scoring Quake
In the video shown at QuakeCon, Reznor traced his history with id Software's games, from Wolfenstein and Doom through to Quake. He said the sense of freedom in those games resonated with where he was at musically at the time, which led to a friendship with the id Software team and, eventually, an invitation to work on the game's music and sound design. He called the Quake soundtrack one of the works he's most proud of in his career.
A new campaign, and other bands on the Quake engine's legacy
Publisher Bethesda simultaneously released a new 19-level Quake campaign called Dawn Of The Machine, developed jointly by MachineGames and id Software developers as a tribute to the original game.
Separately, according to NME, music from The Cure and Radiohead has been confirmed for the soundtrack of the music game Stage Tour, a spiritual successor to Guitar Hero.
