2026 Golden Horse Film Festival Rolls Out Rock Docs: Oasis, Pulp Films Hit the Big Screen

The 2026 Golden Horse Film Festival has announced three rock-focused documentaries for its program: a film tracking Oasis's Gallagher brothers reconciliation and reunion tour, a Pulp documentary narrated by frontman Jarvis Cocker, and a Taiwanese film profiling several of the island's mid-generation rock bands. The Oasis documentary will get its exclusive Taiwan theatrical screening through the festival.

What's in the lineup

Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger

Produced by the team behind Peaky Blinders and directed by the duo behind Shut Up and Play the Hits, this film documents the Gallagher brothers' reconciliation after 16 years apart, cutting between the frenzy of the reunion tour's live shows and the behind-the-scenes work of patching things up. Responding to fan demand, the filmmakers have given the Golden Horse Film Festival an exclusive Taiwan theatrical release.

Pulp: What Do You Do for an Encore?

British animation director Garth Jennings, known for Sing, turns his camera on English rock band Pulp for the first time, with frontman Jarvis Cocker narrating throughout. The film weaves together footage from the band's reunion tour of the past decade with archival material spanning 40 years.

Away From Here

The latest work from Su Che-hsien, director of the Golden Horse Best Documentary winner about Taiwan's breakdancing scene, this film visits several of Taiwan's mid-generation rock bands, featuring interviews with 1976, Tian Mei Hao, Tizzy Bac, and HUSH.
