Daughter's Elena Tonra Returns as Ex:Re With New Album 'Save As', Out October 30, 2026
Elena Tonra, lead vocalist of British indie rock band Daughter, has announced the return of her solo project Ex:Re (pronounced like the English word "X-ray") after an eight-year gap. Her second studio album under the name, Save As, will arrive October 30, 2026 via 4AD, with the lead single "Radio Station" out now. The news was shared by Taiwanese distributor Beggars Taiwan on social media.

From a one-off to a second album
Tonra first released music as Ex:Re in 2018 with the self-titled debut Ex:Re. At the time, she reportedly didn't envision a follow-up — she had even thought of the project as a single, self-contained statement rather than an ongoing act.
That changed in 2023, when she returned to a batch of song sketches she had been sitting on for years and brought them into the studio. She reunited with Fabian Prynn, who had produced the first Ex:Re record, and the familiar creative rapport between them helped what began as scattered ideas grow into a full album, Save As.
