claire rousay announces new EP 'on holding,' first release on her own label

claire rousay has announced a new solo EP titled on holding, according to an October 1, 2026 report from Stereogum. The EP is due out next week, and the lead single, "holy sedative," is already out now. on holding also marks the first release on rousay's newly founded label, quality sounds ltd. The artist, often tagged as working in "emo ambient," put out a collaborative album with Martyna Basta just one week earlier.

What was announced

on holding is a solo EP from rousay, set for release the week following the Stereogum report. The single "holy sedative" is available now, and rousay has reportedly spoken about the ideas behind the project.

A new label, and its first release

rousay has kept up a rapid release pace in recent years, alternating between solo work and collaborative projects. With on holding, she's launching quality sounds ltd and using the EP as the label's catalog-number-one release — effectively bringing this new project in-house.

This comes just days after her collaborative album with Polish artist Martyna Basta, meaning the two releases land less than ten days apart.
