Cameron Winter Releases 'Live at Carnegie Hall'

American musician Cameron Winter has released a live recording, Live at Carnegie Hall, documenting his solo performance at New York's Carnegie Hall last December. Midway through the show, directors Paul Thomas Anderson and Benny Safdie rushed the stage with film cameras in hand — a moment that became the most talked-about part of the night. Pitchfork has already published a review of the album.

What's on the album

Live at Carnegie Hall is a solo record, capturing Winter's full set alone on the storied stage. Pitchfork's review describes the album as compressing half a century of the Great American Songbook into a single point of light, highlighting how Winter's setlist draws on that tradition.

The performance was photographed by Bowen Fernie. Anderson and Safdie's on-stage camera work that night was not announced in advance.

A Carnegie Hall age record

Pitchfork notes that only a handful of American pop musicians have headlined Carnegie Hall at a younger age than Winter did: Laura Nyro, Tim Buckley, Joan Baez, and James Taylor, with Bob Dylan having done it twice. With this December show, Winter joins that list.
