A month mixing international and domestic acts
Billboard Live Tokyo typically runs two sets per night, and September keeps to that cross-genre format. The Roots and Danny Seraphine bring American hip-hop and Chicago-lineage rock to the room, while Yasuko Agawa and Sayuri Yuki sit closer to jazz and Showa-era pop traditions.
Furui Riho, Crystal Kay and XinU's dates land in R&B and pop territory, and YOUR SONG IS GOOD and Zainichi Funk add funk and instrumental acts to the mix. Komuro's two-night "Short circuit eats long story" is the only back-to-back run by a Japanese artist this month.
