Why 'Remembering Each Other'
In his announcement, Balai looks back on the decade since he moved to the East Coast at age 30, shortly after releasing an album and winning an award. He kept up a packed schedule of radio spots and shows, touring around Taiwan solo and with a band, until he developed facial nerve dysfunction. A local friend told him that since his body had already come to Taitung, his heart and pace should slow down too.
Since then he has made the East Coast his base, living through typhoons, earthquakes and landslides there, while continuing to gather new encounters and songs over a stretched-out sense of time. The show's title, Remembering Each Other, comes from that arc — reconnecting scattered pieces of his past with who he is now, and extending an invitation, as he put it in his post, for old friends and new ones to come back into the music and get to know each other again.
