Who are bacho and KOTORI
bacho formed in 2002 in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, and consists of Kinya Kitahata (vocals/guitar), Yoshito Miura (guitar), Tomonori Ito (bass), and Yukihiro Takanaga (drums). The band pairs raw emo, punk and alt-rock sounds with literary Japanese lyrics, anchored by Kitahata's near-exhausted vocal delivery. Their 2015 debut full-length Saikou Shinkioku established their signature sound; in 2024 they released Boy Meets Music, their first album in nine years, and toured nationally behind it.
KOTORI formed in 2014 in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, and now performs as a three-piece: Yuya Yokoyama (vocals/guitar), Hitoshi Uesaka (guitar), and Tomoki Sato (bass). Known for a self-described "singing rock" style, their live shows build from delicate, layered arrangements into explosive releases with full-crowd singalongs. In 2023 the band completed a 27-date tour across 25 Japanese cities, and their 2024 major-label album KOTORI sold out all eight dates of its release tour. The band has now played FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL four times, taking the second-largest stage, WHITE STAGE, for the first time this year.
