ASOBISYSTEM Opens First Overseas Office, Setting Up Shop in Los Angeles

Japanese entertainment company ASOBISYSTEM has announced its first international expansion, opening ASOBISYSTEM USA with headquarters in Culver City, part of the greater Los Angeles area. The company views the US as one of the fastest-growing markets for Japanese entertainment content, and the new office will handle business development, partnerships, and on-the-ground support for its roster of Japanese artists, creators, entertainment companies, and IP. The North American office is positioned as a bridge between the Japanese and US markets — supporting its own artists' touring and promotion in the US while also offering consulting to other Japanese entertainment companies looking to enter the American market.

Nakagawa said global interest in Japanese entertainment content has grown significantly in recent years, and the company sees this as the right moment to establish a permanent US presence. The goal, he said, is both to create more opportunities for its artists and to support creators, companies, and partners on both sides of the Pacific.

A North American track record

Founded in Tokyo's Harajuku district in 2007, ASOBISYSTEM now represents nearly 100 artists, creators, and producers, including Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Atarashii Gakko!, Yasutaka Nakata, and Capsule.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has completed multiple North American tours and festival appearances. Girl group Atarashii Gakko! sold out a 13-city North American tour in 2024 that included a Coachella appearance, and the group returns to the US this September for the Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival in Seattle. Live bookings for both acts are handled by The Team.

Beyond its Tokyo headquarters, ASOBISYSTEM also maintains offices in Osaka, Fukuoka, and Okinawa.
