Ariana Grande to Step Back From Public Life After Tour Wraps, Exits West End Play
Ariana Grande will step away from public life once her Eternal Sunshine tour concludes, her representative confirmed to People magazine on August 2, 2026. She has also withdrawn from a planned West End staging of Sunday in the Park with George in London.

The North American leg of the Eternal Sunshine tour is currently wrapping up. Grande is set to play a ten-night residency at London's O2 Arena later this month, with the final show on September 1, 2026. Her representative told People: "She's looking forward to finishing this tour, ending it in a healthy and happy place, and then taking time to rest and step back from the professional obligations and public appearances that have opened her up to constant and relentless public scrutiny." The representative added that the tour "has been a beautiful experience for her" and that "she loves her fans and has loved every moment of this tour." A source close to Grande told People she remains in good physical condition, describing the shows as physically demanding and noting she has performed at a high level "in a healthy, successful place" every night.
Exit from the West End and other projects
Grande has confirmed she will not take part in a new West End production of Sunday in the Park with George, which had been planned for London's Barbican Centre with an expected opening next summer. The production would have marked her West End debut, and had also cast her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey. Last month, reports indicated she had also dropped out of the new season of American Horror Story due to touring commitments.
Context: renewed scrutiny over her appearance
The withdrawal comes after renewed online commentary about Grande's appearance, following the release of a music video for a single from her new album Petal. Grande has repeatedly asked the public not to speculate about her health or looks, including in her 2024 single "Yes, And?," where she sang: "Don't comment on my body, do not reply / Your business is your business and mine is mine." She has said Petal was written from a place of "unfiltered rage."
What's still on the calendar
One project remains confirmed: Grande is set to co-star with Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the film Focker-In-Law, expected to open in November 2026.
