Antal Brings a Vinyl Listening Session to Tokyo's 1 Hotel on Oct 10, 2026

Antal, the Amsterdam DJ and co-founder of record shop/label Rush Hour, will host a vinyl listening session called "Antal: Listening Session" on the 38th floor of 1 Hotel Tokyo on October 10, 2026 (Saturday). Organized by 1 Hotel Tokyo, this isn't a club night — it's a seated session built around Antal's own record selections paired with a live interview.

The theme is built around "the music that shaped his life and career," alongside key records that trace the history of Rush Hour. The label turns 30 next year, and this session is positioned as part of its anniversary programming.

What's confirmed so far

The sound system: Higo Beat and Cometa M2

The session runs on Higo Beat speakers — a brand rooted in UK dance-music culture, with cabinets hand-built from Japanese domestic timber — paired with a high-end rotary mixer, the Cometa M2.

With a cap of just 50 seated attendees and an interview format unpacking the musical roots and ideas behind each selection, this is another example of Tokyo's listening-bar/listening-session culture extending into hotel high-rise spaces in recent years.

About Antal and Rush Hour

Antal, born Antal Heitlager, co-founded Rush Hour in Amsterdam in 1997 with Christiaan Macdonald. The operation spans a record shop, a label, and distribution, long known for digging up and reissuing obscure dance records along with African and Caribbean music. Antal himself is an active DJ worldwide, known for wide-ranging selections and solid technical sets.

What hasn't been announced yet

No further details beyond the ticket price, venue, and schedule have been released — there's no word yet on whether additional tickets will be made available beyond the 50 advance seats, or on any further programming tied to Rush Hour's 30th anniversary.
