U2 Announce First World Tour in Eight Years, Kicking Off in Mexico City in February 2027

Dublin band U2 have announced The Greatest Show On Earth, their first world tour in eight years. Promoted by Live Nation, the tour opens on Tuesday, February 23, 2027 at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, with Beck as support. The run is tied to the band's forthcoming 16th studio album, Carnaval De Luz. Only six Latin American shows have been announced so far, and Live Nation says the tour will run into 2028.
The first Latin American dates
Three cities get two shows each — the only Latin American stops confirmed for next year. Live Nation has not ruled out adding more Latin American dates beyond 2027.
- Mexico City — Estadio GNP Seguros (two shows), starting Tuesday, February 23, 2027
- São Paulo — Estádio MorumBIS (two shows)
- Buenos Aires — Estadio River Plate (two shows)
- Support act: Beck
- Promoter: Live Nation
European and North American legs have been confirmed to be part of the tour. Live Nation says 2027 dates for Europe and North America are expected to be announced "in the coming weeks," and plans for a homecoming show in Ireland are also in the works.
50th Anniversary and Surprise Dublin Shows
The announcement comes as U2 marks its 50th anniversary. Earlier this month, the band played two surprise shows in Dublin to celebrate the milestone, including one at a member's former secondary school.
From the 360° Tour to the Sphere Residency
U2 have long been known for stadium-scale shows and elaborate staging. The 360° Tour (2009–2011) was the first in-the-round production to tour stadiums worldwide, selling 7 million tickets and briefly becoming the highest-grossing tour in history. In 2016 the band returned to indoor arenas with the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE tour, originally conceived as a two-part production paired with the iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE shows, reflecting two sides of the same double-album project.
The 2017 stadium tour performed the band's 1987 album The Joshua Tree in full, accompanied by desert imagery and visuals by Anton Corbijn on giant high-resolution screens, grossing approximately $317 million that year alone; the 2019 continuation brought the tour to Oceania and Asia, including U2's first-ever show in Mumbai, India. In 2023 the band held a 36-show residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, with 11 shows added due to demand.
In its statement, Live Nation said U2 is recognized as one of the world's premier live acts, continually pushing the boundaries of live performance since their debut — including the boundary-breaking 1991 ZOO TV Tour.
