'Sunny Dancer' Soundtrack Revealed: The xx, CMAT and a 16-Track Coming-of-Age Playlist

Sunny Dancer, the coming-of-age comedy directed by George Jaques and starring Bella Ramsey, opened in UK cinemas on August 14, 2026. The film follows 17-year-old Ivy, sent to a cancer survivors' summer camp after beating the disease, where she meets a group of fellow misfits. The score comes from Haim's Este Haim and Zachary Dawes, and the soundtrack runs 16 tracks deep — including The xx's 'Fiction' and a brand-new original from CMAT. The Score and the Cast

The original score was composed by Este Haim and Zachary Dawes together. Este Haim, of the rock band Haim, has previously scored the Netflix series 'Maid' and the Sydney Sweeney vehicle 'Anyone But You.' Dawes plays bass in both Mini Mansions and The Last Shadow Puppets. NME's interview with Este Haim also touched on the scoring process for this film and on Haim's upcoming fifth album, said to be inspired by New York.

Beyond Ramsey, the cast includes Daniel Quinn-Toye, Earl Cave, Ruby Stokes, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Gunning, and James Norton.

The 16-song lineup spans 2000s British pop (Scissor Sisters, Jamelia), indie rock and alt staples (The xx, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Daughter, Bon Iver), and electronic producer work (Jamie xx, Fred Again, Alison Goldfrapp), closing out with DJ Casper's novelty hit 'Cha Cha Slide.' CMAT's 'Can't Hack It (Without You)' is the only newly recorded track on the entire soundtrack.
