Sheherazaad Sets Debut Album 'Khudgarzi' for November 2026, Shares First Single 'Andhera'

American songwriter, producer and theater artist Sheherazaad has announced her debut full-length album, Khudgarzi, due November 20, 2026 (Friday) via UK label Erased Tapes. It follows her well-received 2024 EP Qasr. The lead single "Andhera" is out now, accompanied by an a cappella performance video shot by French director Vincent Moon in London's Victoria Park.

The single and the Vincent Moon video

The label describes "Andhera" as having an anthemic quality. It's streaming now on all platforms. The accompanying unaccompanied-vocal video continues Moon's long-running approach — known from his La Blogothèque work — of capturing musicians live, on location, with minimal setup. This one was filmed in Victoria Park in east London.

What 'Khudgarzi' is about

"Khudgarzi" means "selfishness" in Urdu. The album examines the space between obligation and autonomy, sacrifice and survival, approached from a woman's perspective.

Sheherazaad has said she was preoccupied during the writing process with the figure of the "Khudgarz Aurat" — the "selfish woman," a label she grew up hearing used against women who wanted autonomy and were consequently viewed with suspicion or pushed to the margins.

Physical release details

Album artwork photography is by Zay Ira, with design by Robert Raths.
