Rock in Japan Cancels Sept 21 Show Over Typhoon, Full Merch Refunds Announced

ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2026 cancelled its September 21 (Monday, a Japanese national holiday) show as Typhoon No. 25 approached, organizers announced. The cancellation affects the festival's final scheduled date at Chiba's Soga Sports Park, and organizers have now detailed how ticket holders and merch pre-order customers will be handled.

Why the show was cancelled

The Jフェス (J-Fes) organizing office announced the cancellation on September 20, citing forecasts of rainfall far exceeding the previous day's totals across all of September 21, combined with expected strong winds as the typhoon made its closest approach. Organizers said safety inside and outside the venue could not be assured. The team had been monitoring the typhoon's potential impact, but as forecasts kept worsening through the day, they made the call to cancel with attendee, artist, and staff safety as the top priority.

The September 21 lineup — the festival's closing day — had been set to include Ado, Maximum the Hormone, SiM, Momoiro Clover Z, Yabai T-shirts Yasan (ヤバイTシャツ屋さん), WANIMA, 10-FEET, ano, INI, and Sakurazaka46. Anyone holding a single-day ticket for September 21, or a multi-day pass covering that date, will be refunded for that day's ticket; specifics are directed to the official announcement.

What happens to merchandise

Online restock announced

To meet demand from fans who still want merchandise, organizers say the official online merch store will restock at 15:00 on September 21 (Monday, national holiday). The restock includes inventory freed up by cancelled pre-orders as well as items originally intended for on-site sale only, including the venue-exclusive "Rock in Gacha" (ロック・イン・ガチャ) and logo-printed cloakroom bags (クロークバッグ).

Closing note

This cancellation was made for weather and safety reasons, affecting a single day of the festival. Both merch and ticket refunds are being handled centrally by the organizers. Ticket holders and pre-order customers should follow the Jフェス app and official website for the exact refund period and process.
