Pokémon Pokopia Gets a One-Hour Chill Soundtrack Mix

The Pokémon Company has released a one-hour relaxation mix built from the official in-game soundtrack of its life-simulation title Pokémon Pokopia. According to the official description, the mix is meant to be listened to while you "work, study and sleep," and listeners are invited to picture moving through the game's world as the music plays. As NME reported, it's the latest in a string of music-related extensions the game has had this year.

How Pokémon Pokopia has performed

Pokémon Pokopia is a life-sim game centered on restoring a run-down island to draw Pokémon back to it. Players can freely reshape the terrain and build and decorate various houses — gameplay that's been described as sitting somewhere between Animal Crossing, Minecraft and Stardew Valley.

Since launching this past March, it has become the highest-rated entry in the Pokémon series on Metacritic and one of the best-reviewed games of the year overall. This month it picked up a 2026 Game of the Year award at the Japan Game Awards, a prize recognizing "outstanding computer entertainment software."

The game's first paid expansion, "Bubbly Basin," launched in August, adding an underwater town and new Pokémon. A second expansion is planned for later this year, with a third expected in 2027.

A big year for Pokémon music

This year marks the Pokémon franchise's 30th anniversary, and music tie-ins have piled up accordingly. Japanese artist Masayoshi Oishi released a 22-minute rap track that name-checks all 1,025 Pokémon.

Later this year, Marshmello will headline two Pokémon-branded EDM shows called "Night Out," taking place in Los Angeles and London. The official press materials describe it as the first-ever crossover between Pokémon and the EDM world, with the performances paired with animation and visual effects.

Also leaning into game-music anniversaries is Konami, which has confirmed three orchestral concerts to mark the 40th anniversary of the Castlevania series.
