Phoebe Bridgers Hits No. 1 in UK Amid Hospital Stay, Reschedules Small UK Shows to December

Phoebe Bridgers' third solo album, Lost Weekend, came out Friday, August 14, and debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart the following Friday, August 21. That same day, a photo surfaced of Bridgers holding a No. 1 chart plaque from her hospital bed — she had spent the previous week hospitalized with appendicitis. Three small UK shows canceled due to her illness have now been rescheduled for December. According to NME, it's her first-ever UK No. 1 album as a solo artist.
Rescheduled Dates and Tickets
Bridgers had planned an extra round of small-venue shows in Kingston, Brighton, and Bristol, which were canceled because of her hospitalization. All three have been moved to December, after her UK and European arena tour wraps, with two shows (afternoon and evening) at each stop.
- Tuesday, December 15 — Electric, Bristol — afternoon and evening shows
- Wednesday, December 16 — Chalk, Brighton — afternoon and evening shows
- Thursday, December 17 — Circuit, Kingston — afternoon and evening shows
- Tickets: original tickets remain valid for the rescheduled dates; more tickets are said to be released later, though promoters have not yet detailed how
All three dates are phone-free shows, with devices locked in Yondr pouches for the duration. On Monday, August 17 — Bridgers' 32nd birthday — she already played two phone-free shows under the same policy at Union Chapel in London as part of the album's release activities.
Lost Weekend's Chart Run
Lost Weekend also topped the UK Vinyl Albums Chart and the Record Store Chart, making it the first UK No. 1 album for her label, Dead Oceans. By comparison, Bridgers' 2020 album Punisher peaked at No. 6 in the UK; her only prior UK chart-topper came via boygenius — the trio with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus — whose 2023 album The Record hit No. 1.
NME gave Lost Weekend a five-star review. Taylor Swift publicly praised the album as "an absolute triumph in every way." Fans have also identified a hidden collaboration on the physical release featuring former Black Country, New Road frontman Isaac Wood, and speculate that Geese frontman Cameron Winter appears on two tracks under a pseudonym.
The Lost Tour
Bridgers' "Lost Tour" kicks off in North America next month, moving to the UK, Ireland, and Europe in November and December. The three small December shows are scheduled after the arena leg of the tour concludes.
