Phoebe Bridgers Makes Acting Debut in A24's 'Primetime,' Announces New Album 'Lost Weekend'
Phoebe Bridgers is stepping in front of the camera for the first time. According to NME, the singer-songwriter will make her acting debut in A24's upcoming film Primetime, directed by Lance Oppenheim and starring Robert Pattinson. The film hits theaters September 25. Bridgers' role has not yet been revealed.
What 'Primetime' is about
The film is inspired by the NBC Dateline segment To Catch a Predator. Pattinson plays the show's host and creator, Chris Hansen, in a story tracing how the program — built around confronting alleged child predators on camera — became a media phenomenon. The cast also includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher and Bokeem Woodbine.
'Lost Weekend' arrives August 14
Bridgers' long-awaited third solo album, Lost Weekend, follows 2020's Punisher and will be released Friday, August 14 via Dead Oceans. The lead single is 'Lost Boys.'
The announced tracklist features boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, along with Christian Lee Hutson and Jack Antonoff. There's also a mystery guest credited as 'Son-John Johnson,' widely speculated to be Geese frontman Cameron Winter.
Release-related events include full album listening sessions at planetariums in multiple cities worldwide, paired with specially produced visual projections; a core-fan listening event held in New Jersey in partnership with Spotify and Dead Oceans; and midnight release parties at more than 300 locations globally on August 13, spanning the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Japan, Brazil and South Korea.
Tour and 'no-phone' policy
Bridgers recently performed two versions of the lead single on The Tonight Show, including an acoustic rendition. Prior to that, she played her first solo show in three years in Roswell, New Mexico, debuting three new songs.
Later this year she'll embark on tours across North America, the UK and Europe, with Alex G supporting on North American dates and Isaac Wood supporting the UK and European shows. She has confirmed a 'no-phone' policy for all shows, with phones and other recording devices locked away during performances.
