Phoebe Bridgers Cancels UK Club Shows After Emergency Appendicitis
American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers confirmed on Instagram Stories the morning of Wednesday, August 19, that she has been hospitalized with appendicitis and is cancelling the rest of her small UK shows this week. Posting a photo from her hospital bed captioned "I got appendicitis for my birthday," she said the remaining UK dates would be rescheduled and that she'd make it up to fans. The run of shows had been mounted to celebrate the release of her third album, Lost Weekend.
What was cancelled
Bridgers played two intimate shows at London's Union Chapel on Monday, August 17 — her 32nd birthday. The schedule was then set to continue with two shows in Kingston on Wednesday, August 19, a Brighton date on Thursday, August 20, and a closing Bristol show on Friday, August 21.

Banquet Records, the record shop promoting the Kingston date, said it is working closely with her global team, and that details of rescheduled dates will be announced separately. According to the UK's NHS, appendicitis requires urgent hospital treatment.
Lost Weekend and the Lost Tour
Bridgers is set to launch her phone-free "Lost Tour" in North America next month, before heading to the UK and Europe in November and December. The UK and Ireland leg includes 3Arena in Dublin, Co-op Live in Manchester, and The O2 in London.
NME gave Lost Weekend a five-star review, calling it "a staggering, strange and stirring opus" and describing it as a direct reckoning with herself and with the love and loss that have shaped her story. Taylor Swift also publicly praised the album as "an absolute triumph in every way."
The album's release has generated plenty of talk: fans have speculated that "The Governor's Waltz" relates to her past relationship with Paul Mescal, while there are rumors that Geese frontman Cameron Winter appears on two tracks under a pseudonym. She has also confirmed a collaboration on the album with former Black Country, New Road frontman Isaac Wood. During the album's promotional run, she led fans on a skating rink at a U.S. listening event and held full album premieres with custom visuals at planetariums around the world.
