Lucy Dacus Brings Out Julien Baker for "Bullseye" at Outside Lands
Lucy Dacus brought out boygenius bandmate Julien Baker during her set at Outside Lands last weekend, held in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The two performed "Bullseye," a track from Dacus' album Forever Is A Feeling, with Dacus introducing Baker by saying: "I wanna invite my best friend to the stage." The duet was performed with Dacus on acoustic guitar. According to NME, Dacus also played the boygenius song "True Blue" and other selections from her solo album during the same performance.
A growing list of "Bullseye" duet partners
The studio version of "Bullseye" features Hozier as a guest vocalist. Earlier this year, Hozier joined Dacus onstage in New York to perform the song together. In June 2024, Hozier had also invited Dacus to duet on "I, Carrion (Icarian)" at one of his own New York shows.
Last month at the Newport Folk Festival, Hayley Williams likewise joined Dacus for "Bullseye," while Madi Diaz appeared for "Heavy Metal."
A busy year of guest appearances
Also at Newport Folk Festival, Dacus brought out The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers to duet on Jim Croce's "Time In A Bottle." Before that, in August 2025, Dacus had joined The Killers onstage at Osheaga in Montreal for "Read My Mind."
During Newport, Dacus also appeared as a guest in Hayley Williams' set, alongside other guests including Jack Antonoff, Jenny Lewis, Remi Wolf, Wednesday's Karly Hartzman, and Joy Oladokun. Earlier this year, she duetted with Chappell Roan on The Magnetic Fields' "The Book of Love" at a fundraiser for Sudan and Palestine organized by Mustafa in Los Angeles.
On the "lore" around her and Baker
Dacus confirmed her relationship with Baker last year and has said part of Forever Is A Feeling was inspired by it. She later said she's uncomfortable with fans treating their lives "like a Marvel universe," adding that she mostly writes songs "to send to certain people, or for myself to listen to." She said some parts of the story she'll keep for herself, but that this is the story that defines her life.
