Karen O Pulls Out of Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields Due to Family Emergency

Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O announced on Instagram on August 30 that she could not attend Olivia Rodrigo's first Daisy Chain Fields festival due to a "family emergency." The one-day event took place Saturday, August 29 at Great Park in Irvine, California, with Karen O originally billed as one of three special guests alongside Stevie Nicks and Sarah McLachlan. In her post, Karen O said she was on the East Coast with family and thanked Rodrigo for championing women artists.

Three Guests, One Headline Set

According to NME, Rodrigo brought out McLachlan, Alanis Morissette and Nicks in succession during her headline closing set. McLachlan joined her for "Building A Mystery" and "Angel," the latter dedicated to country singer Dolly Parton, who died earlier that week. Morissette performed "Ironic" with Rodrigo, and Nicks closed the night with a duet of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide."

An All-Female Lineup and a $20 Million Fundraiser

Daisy Chain Fields featured an entirely female lineup. Beyond the three special guests, the bill included:

Devon Again stepped in as a last-minute replacement after KATSEYE withdrew when member Megan Skiendiel sprained her ankle during tour rehearsals.

All performers waived their fees, with net proceeds going to organizations supporting women's and girls' rights. The festival had already raised $10 million for ten nonprofits before philanthropist Melinda French Gates matched that amount, bringing the total to $20 million.

What's Next for Karen O and Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Karen O recently reunited with The Avalanches for the single "Blue Shadows," following their earlier collaboration on "Dial D For Devotion" from the group's 2020 album We Will Always Love You. Yeah Yeah Yeahs' most recent tour was the 2025 "Hidden In Pieces" theater run, which marked the band's 25th anniversary with reworked arrangements of deep cuts and staples. Their latest studio album, Cool It Down, arrived in 2022 after a nine-year gap.
