UK Indie Promoter Heritage Live Cancels All Summer 2026 Shows, Eric Clapton and Lionel Richie Dates Affected
Heritage Live announced on July 13, 2026 that it is cancelling all of its summer outdoor concerts scheduled at three English estates. The affected venues are Englefield Estate in Berkshire, Audley End Estate in Essex, and Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. The highest-profile casualty is Eric Clapton's only UK show of the year, originally set for August 23 at Sandringham, which was to feature Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood as special guest.

The Englefield Estate shows were due to take place this month, with a lineup including Faithless, Richard Ashcroft, Ministry of Sound Classical, and UB40 featuring Ali Campbell.
The Audley End Estate dates were scheduled for August, with Scissor Sisters, The Streets, Pete Tong presents Ibiza Classics, and Faithless.
At Sandringham Estate, alongside Eric Clapton, the August bill also included Lionel Richie, Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson, and Ricky Martin, each set for their own date.
Promoter's statement: independents squeezed by structural pressures
In its statement, Heritage Live said it had worked behind the scenes to secure investment and equity deals to weather the crisis, but a last-resort option collapsed at the final hour, leaving it unable to proceed.
The promoter pointed directly to structural problems in the current UK live market: the scale advantages held by multinational promoters have driven up costs for suppliers, artists and crew, while the cost-of-living crisis and broader financial uncertainty have pushed ticket sales for several shows well below average. Heritage Live said that going ahead without being able to guarantee payment to everyone involved would be irresponsible.
A similar fate has befallen Discovery Festival: the event, originally planned for Darlington, Plymouth and Dundee, recently cancelled all of its 2026 dates, also citing poor ticket sales. The back-to-back cancellations underscore the structural pressures currently facing the UK's independent live music sector.
