Deftones Kick Off 2026 European Tour, Bring Back 'Risk' After 15 Years

Deftones kicked off their 2026 summer European tour on August 16 at METAStadt in Vienna, with Show Me The Body opening. The Sacramento band played a 21-song set spanning their catalog, but the standout moment was 'Risk' — a track from 2010's Diamond Eyes making its first live appearance since 2011. According to NME, the set also included four songs from last year's album Private Music.

'Risk' and Chi Cheng
'Risk' was written in the aftermath of the 2008 car accident that left bassist Chi Cheng in a coma; he died in April 2013 at age 42. Frontman Chino Moreno has called it one of the most moving songs the band has written.
In an NME interview last year, Moreno spoke about the band's longevity, saying multiple generations now listen to the band's music. He noted that seeing both new and familiar faces in the crowd was something he hadn't anticipated.
