Dance Hall Crashers' 1999 Album "Purr" Gets Deluxe Japan Reissue 27 Years Later

American ska punk band Dance Hall Crashers are bringing back their 1999 fourth album Purr 27 years later, this time as a Japan-only deluxe edition titled Purr Deluxe. The reissue is being released by Japanese label PIZZA OF DEATH, and expands the original record into a 19-track collection. Lead single "Ambush" is already streaming digitally, with CD pre-orders open now.

What's on it

Purr Deluxe adds the three bonus tracks that were exclusive to the original 1999 Japanese pressing, plus four completely unreleased tracks pulled from late-1990s recording sessions. Band members reportedly said they'd forgotten they'd even recorded some of this material. "Ambush," the song now out as the lead single, comes from this previously unheard batch.

Practical details

Why PIZZA OF DEATH and why a Japan edition

PIZZA OF DEATH is the Japanese independent label run by Hi-STANDARD, long known for handling Japanese releases of overseas punk and ska acts. Japan-only bonus tracks were common practice at the time, which is why the original 1999 Japanese pressing of Purr already differed from international versions. Purr Deluxe effectively consolidates that scattered material into one edition.
