Green Day, Blink-182 and Rancid Members Form Supergroup Cretin Family for Ramones' 50th Anniversary Tribute
A new supergroup has just been announced: Cretin Family, featuring Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Tim Armstrong of Rancid, Travis Barker of Blink-182, and former Ramones bassist CJ Ramone. The band will share the stage for a one-off show at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 30, 2026. The performance is billed as The Official Ramones 50th Anniversary Tribute, marking 50 years since the release of the Ramones' self-titled debut album in 1976. Organizers have teased surprise guests for the night.

Lineup and Surrounding Program
The evening will be hosted by John Travolta. Beyond the Cretin Family performance, the event includes screenings of two films: a 50th anniversary deluxe edition of Brian De Palma's 1976 horror classic Carrie, and Travolta's directorial debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach. The night will close out with artist Shepard Fairey as guest DJ.
Linda Ramone, the Ramones' widow, has publicly backed the event. Label Rhino is running a companion "Spirit Of '76" campaign: a limited-edition first-ever picture disc vinyl of Ramones will be released on July 17, followed by a double-LP color vinyl edition of Live At The Roxy, 8/12/76 on July 31.
Ramones and the Punk Generation
Green Day and Rancid both paid tribute to the Ramones back in 2003, appearing on the compilation album We're A Happy Family: A Tribute To Ramones — Green Day covered "Outsider," while Rancid contributed "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker."
Members have publicly expressed their excitement for this collaboration. CJ Ramone called it "the biggest Ramones celebration in years." Billie Joe Armstrong said the spirit of the Ramones lives on in every backyard punk show. Tim Armstrong called the Ramones his "favorite band of all time." Travis Barker called the Ramones "the blueprint for punk rock."
