Brooklyn Shoegaze Act Crate Announce Debut Self-Titled Album
Brooklyn shoegaze band Crate have announced their debut album, a self-titled release due out sometime before the end of 2026. The announcement arrives with a lead single, "Not My Song (Mine To Keep)," the band's first new music since the single "Necklace."
What was announced
According to Stereogum, the self-titled LP will be Crate's first full-length release. It's a significant step for a band whose entire public discography, until now, has consisted of just a couple of songs since their 2024 debut.
The lead single
"Not My Song (Mine To Keep)" is the album's first taste, and also the first new Crate track since the single "Necklace." The song sticks to the band's established sound: thick walls of guitar and hazy, buried vocals, continuing the direction they staked out on their 2024 debut.
How two songs built a following
Crate released their debut single "Julia" in February 2024, which landed on Stereogum's list of the best shoegaze songs of that year — notable buzz for a band that, at the time, had only a single song out. A full year passed before the follow-up single "Necklace" arrived, released with a note from the band promising it "won't be the only song this year." That promise didn't pan out in 2025, and the self-titled album marks the band's first major move since.
