Seoul's Cotton Club Announces 7-Day Jazz Week, July 20–26: 10 Lineups from Tango to Hard Bop

Cotton Club Seoul has announced its lineup for a seven-day run of shows from Monday, July 20 to Sunday, July 26, 2026, featuring 10 Korean jazz acts across styles including straight-ahead jazz, tango, Latin, hard bop and swing. Friday (7/24) and Saturday (7/25) each get double-stage bills, while Sunday (7/26) adds a special lecture segment from a jazz critic.

- Mon 7/20 — Stage 1: Cotton Club Band & Kim Dae-seung
Piano Lee Myeong-geon, bass Oh Jeong-taek, drums Jeong Tae-ho, vocals/guitar Kim Dae-seung. The venue's house band joins guitarist-vocalist Kim Dae-seung, with a jam session open afterward (bring 4 copies of your sheet music). - Tue 7/21 — Stage 1: Oh Yeong-jun Trio
Piano Oh Yeong-jun, bass Choi Jin-bae, drums Lee Gil-jong. Straight-ahead jazz standards. - Wed 7/22 — Stage 1: Nam Ye-ji Band
Vocals Nam Ye-ji, piano Bian, guitar Oh Jeong-su, bass Lee Won-sul, drums Kim Jong-hyun. Vocalist Nam Ye-ji performs live for the first time material from the follow-up to her album reinterpreting old Korean songs through modern jazz, 오래된 노래, 틈. - Thu 7/23 — Stage 1: La Ventana & Yu Sa-rang
Accordion Jeong Tae-ho, piano Park Yeong-gi, bass Oh Jeong-taek, drums Choi Yo-seb, vocals Yu Sa-rang. Tango group La Ventana collaborates with jazz vocalist Yu Sa-rang. - Fri 7/24 — Stage 1: Jeremy Park Show
Vocals Jeremy Park, piano Kim Eun-hyun, bass Jo Yong-won, drums Park Jeong-hwan, saxophone Kim Byeong-ryeol. A swing set spanning 1920s Gatsby-era jazz through film music. - Fri 7/24 — Stage 2: Lee Chang-min Quintet
Trombone Lee Chang-min, saxophone Kim Dong-gi, piano Ryu Su-wan, bass Choi Eun-chang, drums Heo Ye-chan. Performs originals plus Blue Note Records classics from Korea's first trombone-led hard bop album, Hard Bone. - Sat 7/25 — Stage 1: Jo Jae-beom Latin Unit
Piano Lee Mi-yeong, bass Kim Bong-gwan, saxophone Lee Yeon-jae, percussion Jo Jae-beom, vocals Lee Yeong-ju. Cuban-rooted Latin jazz — cha-cha, mambo, bolero, salsa. - Sat 7/25 — Stage 2: Kim Byeong-ryeol Friends
Piano Park Ji-yong, vocals Kwon Hye-ri, drums Lee Gwang-hyeok, bass Im Dae-seob. Funk-inflected pop jazz mixed with samba and salsa. - Sun 7/26 — Stage 1: Sunday Special Lecture
Jazz critic and writer Nam Mu-seong presents a talk titled "We Watch Jazz, But Do We Really Understand It?" - Sun 7/26 — Stage 2: Park Hyeon-seon Quintet
Vocals Park Hyeon-seon, guitar Park Ji-hun, piano Ban Geom-seo, bass Jeong Sang-i, drums Oh Jong-dae. Performs originals and a varied set.
