Chrome Sparks Announces New Album "Ball Of Light," Lead Single "Sleeper" Teams Khalid and Jónsi

Multi-instrumentalist producer Chrome Sparks (real name Jeremy Malvin) announced a new album, Ball Of Light, on July 31, 2026, alongside its opening track and lead single, "Sleeper." The song brings together pop-R&B singer Khalid and Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi, splicing their sharply different vocal worlds into one track under an ambient electronic post-rock frame, as first reported by Stereogum.
"Sleeper": a three-way crossover experiment
As the opening track and first single from Ball Of Light, "Sleeper" pairs Khalid's familiar soft R&B textures with Jónsi's signature airy falsetto and his invented Hopelandic vocal aesthetic. Malvin found common ground between the two guest vocalists at the production level — Stereogum described the result as a track that "finds a real midpoint between two sonic worlds."
Khalid is best known for tracks like "Talk" and "Eastside"; Jónsi, as Sigur Rós's frontman, is known for singing in his own invented language, Hopelandic. The two had little to no prior public overlap — this pairing was purely a production decision led by Malvin.
