14 Hospitalized at The Chainsmokers' San Jose Show
A mass casualty medical response disrupted The Chainsmokers' outdoor show at Discovery Meadow in San Jose, California, on Friday, September 4. The San José Fire Department said on X that it received a call at 8:22 p.m. and ultimately dispatched 14 ambulances, transporting 14 people to local hospitals. The incident was first reported by NME.
What happened
According to the fire department, crews responded to a report of "multiple patients requiring medical attention" and sent an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a battalion chief to coordinate the response and manage medical resources on site. The department said it fielded more than ten calls for help during the incident.
Officials have not disclosed the condition of those hospitalized or whether the cases stemmed from a single cause. San José police told NBC Bay Area that attendees were treated for "suspected alcohol poisoning and drug-related issues." No arrests have been reported in connection with the incident, and The Chainsmokers have not publicly commented.

The Chainsmokers are booked to appear at Lollapalooza 2026 in Chicago, on a bill that also includes Olivia Dean, Charli XCX, Tate McRae, Lorde, The xx, John Summit, Jennie, and The Smashing Pumpkins. The festival began in 1991 as a farewell tour founded by Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell, has been anchored in Chicago since 2005, and has since expanded to editions in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Germany.
Separately, earlier this year rapper EsDeeKid publicly accused The Chainsmokers of releasing an unauthorized remix of his track "4 Raws." The duo has previously put out a number of unauthorized reworks, including of Charli XCX's "party 4 u," Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club," Gracie Abrams' "That's So True," and Sombr's "Back To Friends."
