Busan Venue Shut Down for Letting Fans Dance — 18 Korean Indie Acts Unite on Benefit Compilation

A Busan live club called Avant-garde (오방가르드) was hit with a business suspension order because audience members danced during a show. In response, 18 Korean independent acts — including Say Sue Me and Parannoul — have recorded a compilation album now open for preorder at Korean record store Gimbab Records (김밥레코즈).

What happened to Avant-garde

According to an announcement from Gimbab Records on Instagram, the Busan venue Avant-garde received a suspension order after crowd members danced at a live show. Band 모임 별 (Moim Byeol) organized the compilation project in response, inviting musicians who agreed the penalty was unreasonable to contribute.

The album cover uses a work by artist 이우성 (Lee Woo-sung) titled 〈아무도 내 슬픔에 귀 기울이지 않는다〉, held in the collection of Korea's National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art; the artist licensed the image in support of the project. The CD comes with a booklet featuring liner notes written by 모임 별, plus a pin badge.

Who's on it

The compilation, titled 공범들 (A Conspiracy to Sing and Dance), features previously unreleased tracks, most newly recorded for this project, from 18 acts:

How to get it, and where the money goes

The release is CD-only — a single pressing with no streaming release planned. After production costs are deducted, all proceeds from sales go directly to Avant-garde, the Busan venue at the center of the story.
